Alex Frost (b.1973, London) lives and works in Glasgow. His work encompasses a wide variety of media, from sculptures/ mosaics, drawings, to installations. Frost’s delicate compositions have an almost eerie quality; he draws, often using a classical technique, on everyday objects, such as decorated kitchen roll. His sculptures like “Soloing” (2005) combine the simplicity of roman mosaics, with the humor and absurdity of surrealism. Alex Frost also developed an interest in the tension between minimalism and the craft of hand-made works, investigating the multiplicity of the sculptural tradition.
Alex Frost most recent exhibitions include: Ice Palace Studios, Miami (with Sorcha Dallas), 2006; Frieze Art Fair, London (with Sorcha Dallas), 2006; The Owl of Minerva, f a projects, London (curated by Sally Shaw), 2005; Prisms & Shadows, Glasgow Print Studio, Glasgow (curated by Toby Paterson), 2005; Frieze Art Fair, London (with Sorcha Dallas) , 2005; Off Site Project, Glasgow International Festival, Glasgow (with Sorcha Dallas), 2005; Commissioned Public Art Project, Artstars, Luxembourg, 2005; 1973, The Changing Room, Stirling, 2004 and a solo show Sorcha Dallas, Glasgow, 2004.
