Becky Beasley

London and Berlin based artist Becky Beasley (b.1975, UK) works with sculpture and photography. The simplicity of her visual vocabulary allows the artist to explore the complex richness of her materials often including wood, plastics and felt. The works seem close to being useful objects and yet, they remain hermetically mysterious. In ‘The Burrow’ a thick formless piece of felt evokes both an animal habitat and an organic need for warmth and protection, reminiscent of Joseph Beuys.

Her most recent exhibition include: Black & White, ibid Projects, London, 2007; Ost Property, Danielle Arnaud, London, 2007; Décors du Silence! (solo), UBU Gallery, Glasgow, 2006; Anatomies of Desire, Encosta Galeria, Group Exhibition, Lisbon, Portugal, 2006; Bloomberg New Contemporaries, 2006; PLUG, Royal College of Art Alumni exhibition, White Space, County Hall, London and Interim, Fine Art (Mphil. Photography) Exhibition, Royal College of Art, London.

Becky Beasly is the editor of Grey Area Books. She is represented by Laura Bartlett Gallery, London  and  Office Baroque Gallery, Antwerp.
